After settling on showing its Resort 2016 collection in Los Angeles on May 9, Dior has decided to change the date and location of the event to May 11 at the Palais Bulles — or Bubble Palace, in English — on the French Riviera. The futuristic and extravagant home of Pierre Cardin is located close to Cannes, which will begin its annual film festival on May 13.
Back in January, Dior creative director Raf Simons said the brand would hold its cruise runway show in Los Angeles on May 9, but these plans have obviously changed.
The conceptual Cardin house was designed by Hungarian architect Antti Lovag and was constructed between 1975 and 1989, according to WWD. The seaside location has magnificent views and a unique cave-like structure.
Cardin — who worked beside Christian Dior beginning in 1946 before launching his own couture house — bought the Palais Bulles in 1992. WWD reported that he has described the house as “something of a gallery of living art” and “a little corner of paradise.”
