Riccardo Tisci spreads love in Givenchy’s spring 2016 ad campaign.
One image shows a group of young, fresh-faced models staring down at the floor-mounted camera in Tisci’s frothy, lingerie-inspired collection accompanied by a short text by the singer Antony Hegarty, now known as Anohni: “I am a child on the river, and love waits downstream: A waterfall to steal my breath, and change my mind,” it reads in his tiny, tortured handwriting.
“He’s a poetic person, and in a few words, he said everything,” Tisci marveled in an interview, unveiling his latest advertising effort exclusively to WWD. “Everyone can do something very small, some gesture of love. I’m not saying this will change the world, but the world will be better. I’m a big believer in positive energy, and I’m sure this energy will spread,” he said. “People have given me so much love and so much respect and this has helped me to grow.”
Officially welcoming several new faces to his Givenchy “family,” Tisci features Isis Bataglia, Lexi Boling, Leila Goldkuhl, Kris Gottschalk, Imaan Hammam, Issa Lish, Lineisy Montero and Greta Varlese. Givenchy veterans assembled in another group include Mariacarla Boscono, Natalia Vodianova, Lara Stone, Joan Smalls, Miranda Kerr, Candice Swanepoel, Iselin Steiro and Gemma Ward.
Collaborators on the main Givenchy campaign include Giovanni Bianco for art direction, Carine Roitfeld for styling, Orlando Pita for hair, and Lucia Pieroni for makeup.
