This is the third time that Dior returns to Blenheim Palace. This time for it’s Resort 2017 collection under the existing studio team, Lucie Meier and Serge Ruffieux. Its previous collections at the sprawling estate were designed by Monsieur Dior and Yves Saint Laurent in 1954 and 1958. A night before the show, all the guests were treated to a festive evening at The Lady Dior Pub in London. Then the attendees were shuttled up to Oxfordshire—about an hour north of London—on an ornate train “The Dior Express.” Among the star studded guests were Alexa Chung, Elizabeth Olsen, Kate Beckinsale and Emma Roberts.
The collection debuted on the runway led by the brand’s new face Bella Hadid. Tightly waisted ‘Bar’ jackets, full printed silk skirts, tailored white shirts, kick flare trousers, floral tea-dresses plenty of knits, and Dior’s beloved tweed. A fantasy wardrobe in other words, of a certain kind of English woman, executed with Parisian finesse and a sharp eye on sinuous silhouettes that made all this seem surprisingly modern.
