Dior has chosen Valentino’s Maria Grazia Chiuri as Raf Simons’ replacement. According to WWD, Christian Dior has finalized a contract that will make Maria Grazia Chiuri its seventh couturier. The Italian designer is set to show her first collection for the house this fall, for the spring 2017 ready-to-wear season. Chiuri will be the first-ever female creative director in the fashion house’s 70 year history. Maria Grazia Chiuri and her design partner Pierpaolo Piccioli were appointed co-creative directors at Valentino in 2007, selected by Valentino Garavani himself.
