For Chanel’s Fall/Winter 2017 collection, Karl Lagerfeld took everyone outer space straight from Paris fashion week by placing a giant Chanel rocket right inside the Grand Palais, which eventually even blasted off, following a 10-second countdown to the tune of “Rocket Man”.
“It’s a journey through the sky, to the heart of constellations, in the wake of the astronaut Thomas Pesquet,” explained the designer.
Titled ‘Chanel Ground Control’ or as the invitation read ‘Centre de Lancement No. 5’, the collection was mainly focused on white, grey, silver and black color palettes. There were ’60s silhouettes of the boxy mini-dresses combined with spacesuit collars, with the iconic tweed suit transformed into silver-paneled jacket, the black, sparkly gowns adorned with twinkling crystals and finished off with tulle skirts and even feathers. For the shoes there were low-heeled glitter boots. Check out the futuristic collection below.
