Gucci Spring Summer 2018 MFW

For Gucci’s Spring Summer 2018 fashion show held in Milan, creative director Alessandro Michele merged disparate inspirations from Elton John to ice skaters.

“I’m trying to translate fashion in a playground that is more about the contemporary population,”ALESSANDRO MICHELE

Revealed in the multiple influences was a shoulder bag printed with Guccy in a font style like Sega, the entertainment and arcade game company popular in the 80s. Tracksuits with graphic inserts and gowns reminiscent of ice skater outfits were studded with crystals. Sir Elton John’s stage costumes from the 70s designed by Bob Mackie, Annie Reavey and Mr Freedom inspired a special lineup including a harlequin checked jacket and a sequin detailed violet dress. The front row included Dakota Johnson, Salma Hayek and Petra Collins.
