Mad For Plaid

‘Tis the season to wear plaid. Designers including Fendi, Saint Laurent, Prada, and Calvin Klein feature gray plaid in their Fall 18 collections, making it the standout pattern for the season. But plaid isn’t even the original name of this checkered pattern: proper plaid is actually tartan, a woven wool cloth donned with the iconic pattern. Different variations of the pattern were used in Scotland during the 1500s to distinguish one clan or geographical region from another — so basically, it was style with a purpose.

With my today’s look I mean business. I wore my plaid blazer over a short sleeve turtleneck, and paired it with wide leg pants. To create an edgy look, I completed my look with oversized sunglasses (which I am obsessed with) and an eye popping red bag. Check out my outfit deets below.

Shades Of Fall

This season is all about Camel and Leopard print! There is no denying animal prints’ enormous presence on the Fall/Winter 2018 runways. Classic camel is incredibly easy to work with, since its neutral shade pairs with literally everything, while animal prints can be incorporated through accent pieces. Or if you’re into prints you can work with printed layerings – a fur coat, cardi, or overcoat. I always find myself in some kind of variation of casual, neutral and oversized. Get my outfit details below.

Polka Dotted

I’m so glad that polka dots are back and as Marc Jacobs once said: “There is never a wrong time for a polka dot.” Designers offer a selection of polka dots for Spring Summer 2018, like Dior’s Parisian looks with ladylike polka dots, or a new take on the motif, the exaggerated dots at Carolina Herrera, or micro dots at Balenciaga, and mixed dotted patterns at Jason Wu. This classic print gives you a strong vintage vibe.

My today’s look is all about this polka dot ruched midi dress from TopShop, which I paired with the softest suede moto jacket from Old Navy and black suede ankle boots.

And Other Stories

I am in a total spring mood wearing this pink frilled one shoulder top by &otherstories. I can’t get enough of this color. We’ve seen head-to-toe pink looks at Spring 2018 runways like Tom Ford, Off-White, Marco de Vincenzo, Missoni, to name a few. I paired it with black cropped pants and striped mid heel slingback shoes by Zara. Check out the images below.

TROPICANA

We saw some vacation-ready tropical prints on Spring/Summer 2018 runways from designers like Isabel Marant, Coach, Gucci, No.21, Michael Kors, Jacquemus, to name a few. I love sophisticated tropical floral prints that look refined and chic.

My today’s look features this strappy dress from Banana Republic, in a statement-making, tropical print. It’s flattering and polished. It has a wrap-effect front for a polished look and an asymmetrical hem that elongates your silhouette. According to their women’s designer they discovered this exact print while visiting their design archive, then recolored it to add intensity and modernity.

To complete my look I threw on a leather jacket, paired it with faux suede ankle boots from Cape Robbin, a crossbody bag and sunglasses from Nine West.

Strength In Femininity

The androgynous or unisex clothing is growing rapidly on social media. The biggest runway shows have been embracing the trend for the last seasons. Labels like Calvin Klein, Jil Sander, Alexander McQueen, to name a few, play on both femininity and androgyny, mixing feminine with menswear-inspired pieces.

My today’s runway-inspired look features a feminine lace dress from Few Moda (similar here) paired with an oversized boyfriend blazer from Romeo and Juliet Couture. Blazers are my every day staple, it is a nice way to structure your look by adding some androgyny to your femininity. I am also wearing these 90s super retro sunglasses featuring a black frame in a skinny style from Pretty Little Thing. As for the shoes I chose the two-strap high heel sandals from Steve Madden styled with contrasting light blue sheer ankle socks.

That Pink Wall!

You have probably noticed this famous pink wall on social media. So, here it is – the Paul Smith store on Melrose in Los Angeles. Every blogger girl has a photo with this backdrop. This wall gets a lot of action during a day! My look is all about a flowy shirtdress and these thigh high boots.

OOTD: Pastel Pink

The only type of pink I love is pastel. A pink piece is at its most modern when paired with black, white or gray staples. Today I have paired my pastel pink top with black skirt, pumps and gray snakeskin clutch.

OOTD: Downtown Casual

I would define my todays style as downtown casual. A simple bodycon dress (similar here), platform loafers (similar here) and a crossbody bag (similar here). I love unexpected combinations that work well together. When you don’t have any idea what to wear this figure-hugging dress is a lifesaver. It can be worn as a casual afternoon or formal night out outfit.

OOTD: The Kimono Trend

While it’s too hot outside right now, you can still play with layering. You just have to be a little creative. I guess layering is my thing. It’s all about incorporating lightweight fabrics in signature separates that will give you a functional, comfortable, summertime look. With long silhouettes tied at the waist, the Kimono proved to be an inspiration for a number of fashion houses this season. I’m wearing this black and white striped kimono over a black jumpsuit. It creates an oversized look that I love and makes a monochrome style, which is still a big trend. I’m obsessed with all things black and white. The simplicity of monochrome makes it a timeless classic. To complete my look I added chunky platform heels and a plaid clutch.
